Bye bye love

I’ve spent the last 5 years giving others advice to the customers visiting the store on how to dress up. what to wear that back tie top with, or why should you buy that boring black trouser? I’ve had customers who would call for me because they trusted my judgement of a product better than their own! I must have been giving some right advice! But my ideas were being shared one person at a time, and there is a whole world out there with an almost infinite number of possibilities, and still millions who deserved to access to my knowledge on how to make better choices for a better lifestyle.

Mailbox curiosity was a full-time hobby to distracted my idle mind in between jobs. A hobby that got an amazing positive response, from everyone (I’m not kidding or self glorifying). So this time, I have created a full time purpose to bring the best of style to best of people, who want to be extraordinary.

It’s time to move out from hobby to make it my skill, A sincere effort to make the world more stylish. Do visit my new blog www.curiousmeetsstyle.com Please do feel free to like comment and follow my blog.

Monday blues

Blue on Monday

We all have our own personal feeling for Mondays! I used to love Mondays when I worked in retail. The most brainless day of the week, Least number of customers (managers day off!), Half the store staff is on their weekly offs. it used to be a vacation at work! I guess the time for that is over. When you choose to work for yourself (finally!) Monday is that day of work your dragged to, Because you start discovering so many responsibilities you didn't know exist. Do you still get the opportunity to dress up to work? Ya maybe a little bit enough to make you happy, and a lot more enough to be practically convenient when you know you don't have meetings for the day.
However keeping in mind fully, how fat I've grown I guess being lethargically is excusable. Or not, who knows! I decide to wear full black, yet the unsettling felling of gloominess needed a blue denim shirt as a cover up (instead of a heavy jacket) and pink socks with floral print sneakers. Oh ya, now It felt done.

david bowe

UNDER PRESSURE

The other day I saw posts on Instagram by David's fans saying He's back! (with his new album) The next thing I know I'm watching his tribute on VH1. It took A while for it to sink in that He's gone, for good. I've spent the last few days trying to listen to David Bowie's music. It felt like I always have, disconnected. Yet why do I care enough to talk about him? because his work has influenced me through other artists. His best 3, Or probably his only 3 that I have liked at in order,

  1. Heroes - the song means the world to me "we can be heros, just for one day" and "we kissed, like as though nothing can fall". It's the perfect mash up of confidence in love.
  2. The man who sold the world - introduced to me by Nirvana, still one of my favorites. Though the Bowie version irks and gives me goosebumps. What made it worst I heard it the first time in the middle of the night.
  3. Under pressure - Even though there is the confusion over the 6 beats of the song, it is the catchiest of beats I've heard. I've heard them repeatedly in infomercials and fillers on music channels. Yet every single time it's amazing.
My second to my love for fashion, is the music I listen to. Music and their artists are the worlds biggest trend setters, David Bowie a Legendary trend setter coming from an super experimental era where being awkward took great courage, Even at his death hadn't stopped being extraordinary.

I always had a repulsive need to be something more than human. I felt very puny as a human. I thought, "Fuck that. I want to be a superhuman.

New Year Resolutions

After the first three days of the year I realised all over again why I have never been a fan of new year's. I believe it is one of the worse excuses to celebrate.December is one of the best time of the year for me, It starts with my Birthday and ends with Christmas. As a kid it was the best time of the year to do shopping.

Soon after Christmas starts the paramount of lies we like to tell ourselves. "the best is yet to come", "I will keep my resolutions this year", And those lazy louts who prefer to mock themselves for not keeping or even making resolutions. It's amusing to watch young boys coming to the park to jog in the evening, By the end of the month would like to know how many of them are still on track to achieve their goals.

So make a deal with yourself, don't ever make false promises to yourself, Don't make resolutions that you were never suppose to make because you know you won't keep them and it's not in your nature e.g. to exercise and lose weight. Instead discover yourself and set realistic goal (like I will drink a green tea with every dessert I eat) that won't make you guilty of the things you never resolved to get done. Spend more time with people so that you discover who truly cares for you, and build a meaningful relationship with them. Find a new hobby to keep your idle mind occupied. And be more productive and have a satisfying year ahead ( Vaibhav I had to quote your choice of words).

So remember don't make resolutions, make realistic goals you can achieve. Lets fell a bit less guilty this year.

Have A happy year ahead in 2016.

shirt tunic

Ok! I'm not sure why I really chose such a boring plain simple feature, it's been a while since I took these pictures, though I did start noticing the new shirt trend. extra long sleeves to cover your hands, shirt tails sticking out, tunic length shirts with side slit. suddenly something so basic seemed trendy!
The second reason however ;) is to show of my G watch! Its a super awesome gift that came from my super awesome brother. Now a lot of you all might consider that watch pointless, considering that the phone has become an extension of everyone's arm. In my case however at work I deal with a new face every 5 mins and opening my phone in front of them would be rude! it's nice to have a watch that saves me the trouble of reacting to my phone every time it beeps.

summer wardrobe

Lighter Brighter Summer

Whats worse than the perfectly cool Bangalore turning incredibly hot in summer. Yup summer is setting in! and it's time for a wardrobe change. I couldn't think of a better way of starting my summer shopping with a pair of shorts. I don't even know how much longer I would survive the heat my hair down, The fringe is killing me now. summer makes me want to lighten everything I wear. Yes that means lighter cloths, lighter colours, lighter make-up, lighter footwear. I know many of you might wonder why the scarf? but hey, truth be told I find wearing a cotton scarf in summers just as good as wearing an over sized scarf in winter.

SALE! season

SALE comes every season for a reason!

I hate going for sales! But honestly at F21 it feels like a sale everyday. I've never seen that store maintained, Sale or no sale. It's a sea of cloths to go through and nothing fits right :( I was in no mood to drive all the way to Zara, simply because their stores are in malls so far away in no mans land. Yes you guessed it right! for someone who grew up in a city its nice to go to the center of the city where you can do all types of shopping, where I can pick up both branded and street side things :)

Now I'm not saying I won't go to Zara, and I did eventually end up at the Zara sale! It's just that at the start of the sale season I was at F21. Like always I made 5 rounds around the store, I tried on twenty outfits and discarded most because of the fit. Finally like always the first pick is the right pick and I couldn't let go of the top. But like always no matter what you buy at a sale we have to end up buying something non discounted, and I found those denims with the back zipper which were so cool. So I just gave up hunting through the merchandise when I realized I have an awesome pairing. I know I'm being exhausting describing my shopping adventure but it doesn't stop there, see my favorite accessory brand was on sale too. ALDO was on sale and something about their accessories just make me so happy. Picked up 2 sunglasses, an eternal weakness laid to rest.

Shopping season : White dress

Shopping season

You know that decision you been wanting to take for a long time, but it just keeps taking a back seat because it is too bold to deal with. Yes! I got a new hair cut. I kept complaining that I had a big forehead so Sid said get Naomi bangs done. But now that it is finally done and it's been almost more than a month, I still find it too bizarre even for my own style.

It's been shopping season, first Christmas then new year and now all the sale! The main reason I went on a shopping spree at Forever21 this season was because they have just launched their store in Bangalore. Yes please, it is a little bit of F21 overload, But hey the out come was kinda cute. I know those boots again! I guess winter is the only time I get to were my boots everyday.

khaki shift dress

Khaki dress... all set for a relaxed day out

December is the best time of the year, no matter what we always have a 100 excuses to feel happy (no matter how broke you get at the end of it!). Well my 101 excuse is my birthday. This will be the month of shopping over load, by the end of the month I'm forced to go into a shopping detox! The dress is an awesome must have, it's not about the military green but the awesomeness of the Khadi fabric used. Honestly the outfit made no sense to me when I wore it, but along with the union jack around my neck and the boots it triggered some mean girl kinda happiness. Strangely something bought a lot of union jack inspired outfits into the market, haven't you shopaholics picked up one yet? It's every where.

Plaid Jacket

Cosy up with Plaid

So winter is here! and it is freezing cold again. I couldn't think of a better companion to help me fight the cold. There is something about plaid, just the look of it keeps me warm. Also with this outfit I have to admit, amongst all my cloths, Van Heusen tops my choice of brands to pick from.

maxi skirt

Breezy days in a Maxi

Maxi skirts are the easiest DIY fashion project, you just need an extra large piece of fabric and an elastic for the band and your almost done. Yes I did fall in love with the print and I had to make it a project. after a long stretch of the exhausting festive season at work and not feeling well after that, I just needed to feel good about something that instantly cheers me up. Also with the military styles being in trend it only seemed right to pick on my jacket.

the new ugly

The UGLY trend

So what is the cause for the drift from neat sharp stilettos to chunky block heels, from neat light weight jewelery to the bold over sized awkward pieces, from Persian cats to the Sphnyx cat. I really don't know! I read a whole article about it in ELLE but it failed to make any sense. Its that tread report that drew me to this tee. It looked so perfect I had to get it! Now I'm not trying to look ugly, but for someone who was a printed T-shirt teenager in the 90's this outfit came together naturally out of instinct.

Work Wear #1

Dressed up for Work @ FabIndia

It's been only 6 months since I joined FabIndia, yet for some reason my HR thinks I would make a smart trainer. yup they sent me out to give product gyan to colleagues who have been in the system longer than I had. Now planning and execution of the training was not an issue, because I've have a reputation for good presentations. But my tiny build and noisy nature makes it difficult for  people to take me seriously! so I had to dress down a lot yet look like a by product of FabIndia. It seemed like a mammoth effort at first, cause all the pairings of cloths either made me look way too ethnic Indian (not like I wouldn't be able to carry it off!) or way off beat looking too stylish for the average FabIndian. However this paring came off beautifully becausse all my colleagues complimented the way I was dressed :)

navy stripes

Sid once said "Nita your a drama queen that hates drama!", He was bang on! My mom always said I contradict myself. May be thats because I try to see both side of the coin at the same time. I guess thats  why I can never wear a pretty dress and look pretty.

So I had to pair my pretty dress with some bold accessories. That necklace has been one of the best things in my wardrobe for a while, the perfect lion head with the bold chains seemed to naturally draw myself to it like a chemical reaction!

Neon

She's always buzzing just like Neon, Neon, Neon

I know I've expressed my dislike for jeans many times before but I've been hording cloths in my wardrobe waiting for a sunny day to wear some of them. That stupid fear of wearing a good outfit for the wrong occasion. When my friend so graciously requested my presence at the filming of her music video I was so flustered about what to wear. She kept saying come formally dressed! Oh gosh! of all the things people say. But I said hey! Not like it really meant anything because it was happening @ urban solace, now for such an amazing place how could anyone wear formals.

So finally when I opened my over cluttered wardrobe and found my neon top, I just had to wear it. There was something about the colour, I still remember the first time I saw a bunch of neon garments on one rail. That was a while back when I still worked for Maison, It was the happiest rail in the store. Of course I lied when I told everyone I could never carry it off. So When I found this @ soul sante I grabbed it with both hands.

So it took me a few more seconds to decide what to wear it with, naturally with the insufficient time at hand I chose to wear it with my skinny jeans and pumps (I know it such a typical cliche). So I paired it with a printed belt and over-sized clutch, also that ring I've been wearing to work almost every day. Amen! I was done...
